A men's Victorian fine moire watered silk double breasted waistcoat brown satin cotton fabric back, lined in dark cream cotton c1880.
The waistcoat has been well made by hand from ribbed moire silk. Two tiny front watch pockets. Front closure with, I think original, six lovely decorative blue glass & gold coloured metal buttons. Two back straps to pull in at centre back, the lace is not original, and two red leather strips to inside front flaps.
No wear to underarms or silk rot. Wear to the inside back collar FOLD only, scuffs and a hole to the red lining leather, inevitably the cotton lining has age staining. Not visible in wear. The buttons have been moved inwards so thread remnants of the last placing and a three small light brown marks on the left pocket front. All I mention can be clearly seen on the pics and is not so noticeable when seen with the naked eye. Click on any image to supersize. Generally a very fine period substantial silk waistcoat in very good wearable condition for collectors/today's dandy. Last pic shown with a woven floral silk scarf/necktie which is not included, see separate listing. Please check your measurements carefully.
Measures : 36" chest, 31 ins waist largest, 20 ins long to front points, 18" long to centre back, 20" long to centre front.
