Lovely antique Chinese fine silk shawl embroidered by hand with elaborately dressed Chinese figures and a pagoda in two corners and a pretty floral design in the other corners, the border and centre has a random small flower design. All in fabulous silk colours on fine soft black silk with long hand knotted silk fringe.
This decorative shawl has excellent detailed hand work, great shading on very fine silk, so not as sturdy or heavy as many shawls from this period. By no means perfect, a few pinholes and a very small opening in the silk, no missing fabric - not a hole, a few loose ends are visible and there are some pulls to the silk. Nothing obvious in wear, no repairs, embroidery fade, rot, colour run or stains. Overall this is in good wearable condition.
Measures : Large - 65" x 60" + 14" knotted fringe.
