Beautiful chintz curtains with gorgeous design of large sprays of carnations in pinks, greens, bluey green and pale blue, in the background a cross and dot design on cream ground circa 1870.
The fabric has a slight sheen to it, entirely unfaded, I doubt this have ever been washed as the chintz finish would be less obvious. Both panels have rufflette tape and are lined with recent cream cotton sateen and have one vertical seam. One panel has a horizontal seam across the wider fabric width, all joins are reasonably well matched particularly this one - see pic three. There is some slight age speckling, a couple of pinholes, a tiny nick in the fabric and one slightly larger hole mainly on the reverse of the fabric above the tape no more than you expect from fabric from this era. Nothing to detract from the impact of these lovely country house curtains. In excellent usable condition.
Pattern repeat - 15"
Each panel measures - 36" wide x 72" long.
