A decorative Indian fragment on fine cotton gauze backing all hand embroidered in silver & gold metallic threads and silver tinsel & coloured floss silks on a vibrant yellow silk ground. Obviously part of a border cut from, what must have been a fantastic large tablecover. Click on any image to supersize. Beautiful raised work, the peacocks tail is embellished with beetlewing fragments. The last pic shows the reverse. This is first rate needlework, except from three missing beetlewing pieces missing this gorgeous little gem is in excellent condition suitable for applique, framing or study. Circa 1890. One piece only.
