An Indian hand worked embroidered rare bolero. A floral design all embellished with iridescent greeny blue beetlewings and dark gold metallic threads on a black net tulle ground c1890.
This is an interesting find, it is almost impossible to find clothes decorated in this way. I am not sure if the bolero is for a child or a small woman. Sadly there are lots of loose threads mainly on the back at top - please see pics & some missing wings. Though the tulle ground is in surprisingly good condition. Generally I would rate this unusual item as in fair to good condition to repair or for study/display.
Measured flat : 12 ins longest x 14 ins wide (28" around).
