Lovely antique large pure Herdwick wool blanket has been in store for years and hasn't seen much use. Traditionally in the far north of England wool was sent from each farm to be spun, dyed and woven into these lovely warm blankets, each farm choose their favourite colours and designs. This decorative vintage blanket is completely reversible as shown in the main picture. This is a particularly good example, vibrant tomato red and black geometric small diamond design a broad stripe on the two long edges and coordinating sturdy red cotton binding on two short edges. A few plucks and one tiny hole are all I can see otherwise a characterful one off blanket in very good usable condition. c1920
