The silk brocade is woven with gold metallic threads, this is a beautiful textile of excellent quality. The design shows large botanical flora in still vibrant colours : red, pink, blue, greens, cream and yellow on a cream ground. The ground silk is figured showing a scrolling floral design, lined in pink silk.
No rot, splits, holes or stains. This precious silk was originally probably part of a vestment, pieces were often saved and made into something else. This piece has two seams and beautiful untarnished metallic trim, a small gold braid cross has been removed from the centre and there are a few tiny spots but generally this is in excellent substantial condition.Click on any image to enlarge.
