This beautiful waistcoat is made from dark red woven shimmering fine silk brocade with a tiny all over floral design in green and cream. Lined in cream cotton, marked on reverse : Andrew Gordon 1841
This is a really Dickensian looking waistcoat, curved lapels, two front pockets. The pockets & back is taupe glazed cotton with two flaps to the back & an old lace. Five original burgundy silk covered metal buttons to close, a couple of these are slightly worn. There is wear showing to back neck collar & along the fold to shoulder and along the underarm fold ONLY. Most of this is not visible in wear. Overall this unusual antique waistcoat is in very good to excellent condition, very wearable if it fits.
