An exceptional 1930's beautifully hand made oriental robe. All embroidered by hand in a rambling roses & birds design. Subtle colours, many shades of pale pink & green, the two sweet birds on the back are cream, greys, sepia & a little black on a pale blue silk ground showing a subtle woven horizontal stripe texture.
The robe has full length gently puffed sleeves, a mandarin type collar fastening off centre with a loop and emboidered button, a plain self belt with side loops, a woven same colour sfine silk lining showing an oriental design, a fine wool interlining. The robe is quite fitted to the waist with inset panels to te skirt.
Condition : There are three small holes to the silk lining ONLY. Minor fray to lining top edge of collar, a couple of small spot stains, tiny pen mark and a large faint outline water stain to the left side of the robe which is difficult to see in wear. Otherwise this a very wearable period piece is generally in very good clean condition. If you would like more pics/info feel free to email abfabs1@btinternet.com. Click on any image to enlarge.
