A 1920's shawl hand richly embroidered by hand in unfaded colours, many shades of red, orange, purple, green, blue, yellow & white on a dense black ground. Scrolling small flowers, buds, leaves & larger flowers. Very elaborate long hand knotted silk fringe all around. Large enough to cover a double 4' 6".double bed.
The embroidery is as good on the back as the front, this shawl is huge : 59" x 59" plus knotting 4 1/2" plus 16 1/2" = 21" long fringe. A few pinholes & one teeny hole in near a corner in the border which is in my opinion not at all significant and not at all visible in wear. Generally this lovely shawl is in excellent wearable condition.
