A lovely hard to find hand embroidered rectangular apron worked in the traditional Hungarian style showing a vibrant floral design in coloured silks on a dense black cotton ground with a black velvet top and long hand knotted silk fringe - dates from 1920s. SOLD
Fine work, the embroiderer has used lots of interesting stitches, the apron must have taken ages to complete all in many still vibrant silk colours. The reverse is shown in the last picture, click on any image to enlarge.
CONDITION : One small L shaped tear in top velvet part, a small section of fringe needs sewing back on, the pink wool binding along the hem is a ragged, slight colour run along one row of small flowers (7th row up) & a couple of small spot stains.
