A lovely Chinese1920's all silk embroidered robe coat with stunning floral butterfly design in many vibrant colours on black silk crepe ground with silk lining.
This oriental fabulous coat is a very wearable today, simply constructed and hangs well, the half length sleeves are wide and full, closes with a three small silk frog/loop fastenings to the centre front. There are elaborate figural cream silk borders to the neck, side slits, and around the hem. Wider floral borders to the sleeves on imperial yellow silk. All beautifully hand worked. Quite light to wear, fully lined in fine blue silk. If you would like more pics please email.
Nothing more than you would expect to note in a garment of this age, a few stains on the lining, this lovely coat has only three small brown age spots on one cuff, see next to last pic A couple of plucks and the odd loose thread on the stitching. Would benefit from dry cleaning, as has been in storage for decades. A piece of wearable art. There are no holes or repairs, generally this is in very good wearable condition.
Measures : 49" bust, 43" long, side slits 13" long, hem circumference is 64", sleeves 13" long from underarm, 26" wide at cuff.
